Canadian Modern!

I recently designed another modernist home for a customer in Canada. I don't really know why, but I seem to get a good number of design customer from Canada. I mainly attribute this to the wonders of the internet and its ability to deliver information to people searching for very specific topics. In my case they would probably be modern home design and energy efficient design. Or maybe it is the combination of the two that guides people from up North to my website. Regardless of why, I am very pleased to be able to offer my services to our friends across the border!

Anyway, here is a pic of a small home currently under construction. It is a simple rectangular design with 2 triangular additions, lots of windows and vaulted ceilings. The vaults are supported by exposed glulam beams making the small space feel larger and adding beauty to the interior. There is a large garage with ample storage attached to one end of the home and patios in the front and back. More information is available on our Projects page: http://www.clemdesign.com/projects-page/.

I will post more pictures of this home as it progresses..........

A Modern, Mid-Century Modern home is completed!

It has been far too long since I have posted anything to this blog or updated our website for that matter. No excuses, just too many things on my plate as usual. So here is the first of several blog posts, trying to catch up and highlight recently completed projects
.

The Irvin residence was completed this past spring. While the owners moved in just before Christmas, several exterior projects required warmer weather. The owners were such fantastic clients! Every designer should be blessed with clients who know what they want and are willing to put in the extra effort to help create a special home. They have done such a great job in decorating and adding personal touches to the design. I think the resulting home is just spectacular!

The title of this post " A Modern, Mid-Century Modern home is completed!" is a play on words. While this is a new design, it draws heavily from designs of the past. And while there are many site specific elements incorporated into this design, I think it would fit right in if it were transplanted into an older group of mid-century modern homes. See more pictures of this unique home on our Projects page: http://www.clemdesign.com/projects-page/.

This home also goes to show that you can find modern design almost anywhere. There are actually a generous number of very cool modern homes (new and old) in the Kansas City/Lawrence area. More later.....
